Born in New York City in the mid 70s Mirissa Neff has ancestral roots stretching from the Caribbean to the Ukraine. Raised in Manhattan and on Fire Island, Mirissa subsequently graduated with honors from Amherst College. During those years she appeared on Sesame Street, studied photography, and DJed for Amherst’s radio station.

After moving to California she joined the San Francisco Bay Guardian. She spent years as a staff photographer and has been the paper's art director since 2006. Click here for more info about Mirissa's visual work.

Traveling the world to find new music, Mirissa’s work as DJ Felina got her named SF’s “Best Mood Setter” by 7x7 Magazine. With a finger square on the pulse of the world music scene, she has published numerous articles on the genre.

Most recently Mirissa became a reporter for SOUND TRACKS, a new PBS show hosted by public radio's Marco Werman and created by San Francisco's The Talbot Players.
